embracing through envisioning

to embrace our identity in Christ, we must get what we know to travel its way to our heart (realization/experiential). one very valuable way is to trust/have faith in the Lord when our circumstances aren't so good & when we're not "feeling" the best.

another way in which i help myself to embrace God's truths about Him & me is to envision certain things. it's a very personal thing. for me, i continuously envision Jesus sitting on a chair & He's asking me to come to Him w/his arms open wide. He's smiling & cant wait to hug me. but before that He takes my face in His hands & He kisses my forehead. He then looks into my eyes, smiles, & tells me He loves me very much. He then hugs me for a long time. after that he picks me up & puts me on His lap. we talk, smile, laugh, cry, or whatever surfaces.

what do i get out of that? i get to come to Him w/o fear & He's always so happy to see me. He makes me feel special. He looks past my struggles/weaknesses & loves me, for me. He is proud of His creation/me. He loves to spend time w/me. He quickly forgives me of sins. He doesn't keep a record of wrongdoing. i enjoy the affection & the feeling of safety in His arms.

envisioning who He is w/the above picture really helps me take the head knowledge to my heart. w/this practical application & w/applying that my feelings need to be placed in their proper perspective, i've better understood IDENTITY in Christ.

...i've often wondered how many times our "envisioning" is in fact reality manifested...particularly when it relates to prayer and spiritual pursuits...I believe with all my heart they are connected, if not in some ways, the same...

i do too believe they are connected and i also do the same things you mentioned jay.
i love to imagine where He sits when i am talking to Him or how He reacts when i say certain things.
very good point in how this helps in linking our identity with His.
