guard your heart, but don't lock it up!

"Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket--safe, dark, motionless, airless--it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable."

C. S. Lewis

Wow... That is all...

So where can I get one of those caskets?
Just kidding...

A deep thought from my old friend Jack Handy may have stated it better than Mr. Lewis.

"Love is not something that you can put inside a treasure chest and lock up with chains. That's Houdini. Love is caring a lot about someone."

I don't know how much stock I put into his comments. He's made the following comments:

1. If they ever come up with a swashbuckling school, I think one of the courses should be laughing, then Jumping Off Something.

2. If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

3. I bet when the neanderthal kids would make a snowman, someone would always end up saying, "Don't forget the thick, heavy brows." Then they would all get embarrassed because they remembered they had the big hunky brows too, and they'd get mad and eat the snowman.

4.To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.
