show me your JAZZ HANDS!

i finally have an assistant here @ work involving information security. i'm enjoying the "off-loading" (a.k.a.: delegation), because my plate gets smaller & that means i get to focus better on other things.

while teaching mr. smarty pants some stuff on programming cryptographic devices, he says, "no worries, boss man, i have jazz hands!" (he kindly showed me how to flutter his jazz hands & all the various motions that could be done). what? what the heck does that mean? my new guy is very smart, sarcastic, witty, & a young 25. i appreciate his intelligence & ideas tremendously. what i don't appreciate as much is his inability to focus & be dependable. it'll take some work.

so, back to the jazz hands. i asked him what in the snot did he mean. he says, "when i get nervous or anxious about learning new things, i find it helpful to throw some jazz hands out!" he obviously had to show me the hands again. i had a few thoughts in mind mind that went something like this: what the bleep? am i dealing w/an alien here? do i tell him to chill & focus, so he can learn what i'm teaching? do i laugh? is this guy a fruit or something (no offense intended on this one- it was my original/raw thought)?

it must have seemed like an eternity to mr. jazz hands while i processed all of this. all he got to see was my blank stare at the white wall in the server farm. when i popped out of my little "patrick stare" (spongebob reference), i dropped my pen & reference materials, fell on the floor & laughed like a fool for about 10 mts. i laughed so hard that tears smeared all over the place along w/some snot. needless to say, training on crypto was over for the day. :>)

i never would have thought it, but jazz hands truly works. test it out, sometime! when your significant other, co-worker, child, relative, etc... is boring you or confusing you- just throw out your jazz hands!

p.s. after doing some research, "jazz hands", is a type of move used in jazz dancing. hmmmm. go figure. :-) if you like jazz dancing please don't be offended. i'm just learning about this stuff. :-)

!jazz hands will help anyone needing to exercise their laugh muscles!

How do you have daughters who are cheerleaders and NOT KNOW about spirit fingers?

Did you actually and really fall on the floor and laugh for 10 minutes?

jeni- my lil' ladies are just getting the clapping down. so tell me about spirit fingers.

georgia- yes, it was the best belly laugh i've had in a long time- possibly ever. i couldn't seem to catch my breath. this is when the snot started to happen.

Spirit fingers probably come from jazz hands... It's the same sort of thing, only with your fingers wiggling, also...
