ketchup & ranch training

me & nanna like ketchup & ranch for many of our foods. we're some dippin' fools, to say the least. for nanna, the challenge is to keep her hair & shirt sleeve out of her dipping sauce. i continue to remind her that she needs to watch her hair & sleeves w/the sauces. when her hair gets in it, her hair then paints the sauce on her shirt & neck. when it gets on her sleeve, she then smears it across the table, then onto the front of her shirt where her arms rest. sometimes i feel like a broken record, "nanna, pull-up your sleeves, put your hair up, be careful".

last night as i was dipping food into some ketchup, i noticed that nanna was doing the sleeve thing again & mindy throws her some napkins & they land on top of the ketchup thing. now we have ketchup sleeves & napkins & i'm getting "overloaded", in my mind, of the ketchup chaos. so, we get it cleaned up, eat & go home.

as we get home, i noticed a ketchup kind of smell. first place i checked was my coat sleeve. it was drenched in ketchup sauce. i walked a few more steps while telling mindy that i have ketchup sleeves, then she notices that the right side of my jacket is painted in ketchup. mindy laughs & says, "oh, jay, you're funny". i didn't think it was all that funny. after some thought, i, too, think that it's funny.

some of the very things we attempt to train our children in, are the very things we could use some more training in. gives me a little more compassion as nanna drags her hair through the ketchup. :-)

ear hair can also be a problem when eating ketchup...that's why I avoid it.
