apologetics amplified

i've been pretty involved in apologetics lately. not by choice or as some sort of entertainment, but as my crypto apprentice asks questions. he's not your run-of-the-mill inquisitor, he's like arguing money matters w/an attorney.

he's very smart & scientifically minded. he goes on & on about scientific methods & his examples are used mostly to refute christianity. he believes in God, but not how the bible explains him. he's convinced that the bible was put together in a way that served the religious leaders of the day to control the people. he refuses to see the bible as being inerrant.

helpful hint to readers: there are some God places us around that need some scientific proof. we can provide that. there are some that are like the first example, but only like to argue in an endless cycle. it's important that we make some points @ the right times in the right tones. as far as arguing & having to be right- right now: don't bother. ease off, relax, try different approaches (sly, subtle, sneaky) & refuse to get heated when you discern the person is just wanting to vent on you.

where i'm @ w/this guy right now: he continues to get irritated by me being honest in all situations. he considers this to be a character fault of mine & has stated that i'm hurting the team by always telling the truth. he believes that "white lies" are innocent & often needed to help teams be successful. basically, i'm @ the "give him room from God talk & continue to live life around him w/o getting into petty arguments" stage. every person is different & this guy is combative about just about anything. in praying this morning, i thanked the Lord for putting me in this guy's life & also told God that He has quite the sense of humor. He couldn't have given me the easier ones that are so weak that they jump @ anything God. He had to give me mister smarty-pants-know-it-all that hides behind intellectualism. God does have a sense of humor.

So how's that working out for you, Jay?

Okay, okay, this wasn't the best blog to post that comment, but I've been dying to use it ever since the infamous sandwich incident . . .

that was definitely a strange moment. if ya ever want an example in people being habitual/resistant to change- just eat something other than a donut (during donut time) & see what happens. :-)

thanks for reminding me of that, pluck. good times & glad we got to share it together.
