what i like about steve taylor

i think it was in 2001, may have been 2002, i don't remember things like this, but anyway- i'll go ahead & continue the story.

i remember seeing steve @ church for the first time. my first thought was, "cool, we got ourselves a hippie". that's kinda funny, because if you know steve, he definitely has a "hippie" flavor to him. i think it was about the 2nd sun. when steve came up for prayer after the sermon. in praying w/ steve, i noticed some things that stood out about him. here's a little funny side note: during my first prayer w/ steve, i asked the Lord to please comfort, dave". i called him by the wrong name on our very first prayer. this is funny & i'm sure some of you may be able to relate to the embarrassment of something like this.

steve & i quickly became friends. we've strengthened our relationship through doing small groups together & praying for each other. i remember, like it was yesterday, when steve & his family showed up to our small group for the first time. i was so very happy. i may have used some pressure tactics leading up to it though- in a "nice" way of course. ;>)

there are a lot of memories that we have shared from small groups to men's camp. we've always been put directly in each other's path & there's something special about that.

steve,

here are some things that i like/appreciate about you (please forgive me if i forget anything- you know how absent-minded i can be/am):

  • you are extremely social & love to interact w/ all kinds of people
  • you have a HUGE heart for the less fortunate & those needing some sort of recovery
  • you dream a lot about how the world/community can be changed through meeting needs
  • you are a great student & set the example- awesome grades
  • you have awesome diligence & endurance in finishing your college- it will pay off in many ways
  • you are always concerned for people & how they are doing
  • you love Jesus w/ your whole being- & people can tell this right away
  • you have a heart for men's ministries & are always thinking of what men need (that almost sounds funny, but oh well, it's true) :>0
  • you are an "include-er" & see that people aren't left out
  • & etc.....

those are the things that are most prevalent when i think of you. keep trucking w/ your school & congrats on another successful semester.

love ya,

jay

When I first saw Steve I thought he was a biker...he turned out to be a Bear-hugger (have you ever gotten one of his hugs?). The thing that stands out most to me when I think of Steve is...he was one of the only guys at church that went out of his way to get to know Adrian (my oldest son). Steve talked to him and became his friend (which, if you know Adrian, is not the "easiest" thing in the world to do :)

I like Steve a lot...

I like your new color! It's soooo much easier to read all your nice and true comments about Steve on a white background than a black. :)
