The Bennett household has been working on some experiments.
Kayla did a bacteria comparison (measured in colonies) of 5 locations (within the home). The locations were swabbed and the swab was rubbed off into a sandwich bag with homemade agar. Each separate bag was marked and bacteria growth was observationally measured. Contradictory to her hypothesis, her room had the highest concentration of bacteria and not the kitchen (not even the bathroom could compete). She's not a dirty-type, so that infers some things about our bedrooms.
Becca was "told/forced" (it's a voluntary thing), because she's a good student (especially math) to do an experiment for the fair. Becca was threatened with getting a "C" on her science grade if she didn't participate. Mindy had to talk to her teacher and principal about this poo. Things were worked out, but nonetheless, she's doing an experiment on which water will freeze faster (boiling vs. cold). Becca had to go to bed last night, but Mindy stayed up until 1130 finishing up the results. Anyone have a guess on which froze quicker?

Hey, I just got word from Mindy: Kayla got second place & is moving on to the county competition. Very cool.
boiling water freezes faster. bam!
I want to dedicate this comment to Brent . . . boiling water freezes faster.
Congratulations Kayla! Bam! (Sorry diga, I thought that was more worthy of a bam.)
Kayla's off to the next level-- she placed 1st on this last one. Can you tell that I'm a proud dad? :>)
wow! alright kayla! I knew you could do it. your experiment thoroughly frightened me. I went home and cleaned my sink...tonight i'm wiping down the things I touch in my bedroom. eeehhhhwww.
I looked at apartments today. It was awful. She should've swabbed some of those places. A trash bag wouldn't be able to hold all the growing things.
love those monkeys.
please visit me at www.experiencemoundhouse.blogspot. please.
Fernley people don't talk to moundhouse people. ;>)
Kayla's off to regionals (held at UNR) in early March. Please pray that she does well and has a good time.
Just so that Kayla knows, any regional held at UNR is sure to be fun, as it is likely that there will be ice cream involved.
Thanks for the info., Jeni. I'll pass it on. I wonder if parents get hooked-up, too.?.
