smell feelings

The smells that have meaning
The meaning, of course, is entirely personal

There’s no formula for qualifying good smells
They are, because they are

The smell of a smoking pipe
Nostalgic for younger, simpler days

The smell of freshly cut grass
Football, soccer, & picnics come rushing in

The smells @ a football game @ night
Nachos, grass, & smoking pipes

The smell of assorted flowers
My mom & grandma- such gardeners

The smell of hair conditioner & perfumes
Mindy & my girls

The smell of meat barbecuing
BBQs, holidays, & stomach satisfaction

The smell of exhaust & dirt combined
Dirt bike riding w/ my dad & friends

The smell of scented candles
Warms my soul

The smell of cinnamon & pine
Good for any day

The smell of a cooked meal
The road to a man’s heart is through his stomach

Thanks, Lord, for all these smells
They remind me of simple things

Things w/ feelings attached
Things that remind me to be child-like

Scientists have long wondered how we manage to remember smells despite the fact that each olfactory neuron in the epithelium only survives for about 60 days, to be replaced by a new cell.

fascinating...we ARE spirit.

The smell of baby's hair reminds me how much I enjoyed my kids when they were little.

The smell of baby's butt reminds me why I'm not going to have any more. Of course I'm STILL changing diapers at 46. That means some day soon I could possibly (and seldomly) be changing grandchildren diapers. I think I've found my special purpose. It was right in front of me stinking up the room this whole time!

Maybe I'll think my future grandkid's butts are perfume-like?

i'm so glad that "puppy breath" was added.

anyone like the smell of a piercing that hasn't been cleaned in a while?

puppy breath? you people have issues. baby butt comes up a lot, i see, but whenever i see a plane i will think of the smell of murdoc's butt. and i will weep.

...oh thanks for adding that diga...it made me think of the smell of those pink urinal cakes in every airport bathroom in the US. not to mention trash dumpsters (which always smell like Chinese food), stockyards at sunset in East Texas, and of course those dead skunks in the middle of the road (stinkin' to high heaven).

i totally forgot a couple noteworthy smells: apple pie, peach cobbler - basically the smell of baked goods - mmmmmmmmm - warms my heart.

...the smell of a new car, sagebrush after a rain, movie theatre popcorn, my son's hairbrush, play dough, our walk-in closet, my grandpa's Ford pick-up truck (he was a commercial fisherman), fresh baked bread, Mexican food, snow above 10,000 feet, salty air...I have to stop...
