odd, new place

So used to the one fuel
The pain that spawns creativity

The pain is diminishing though
The fuel supply is being cut-off

Raging anger a familiar place
A place to spew injustice & vows

The vows full of hate & bitterness
Boiling wrath filling my mouth

Spitting words like daggers
I won’t be hurt again

Do you know who you’ve messed w/?
I’m powered by rage, & violence is ever-ready!

I’ll crush you under my power
You have no chance against me

I can’t be overcome
You pose no threat

I can squash you like a bug
Don’t look @ me w/ that smug face

I’ll crush every bone in your body
& I won’t even blink

You will wish you never met me
I’ll trap you in weapons of hatred;

HOWEVER,

Those words don’t carry the same weight
The weight has incredibly lessened

I’m not nearly as angry or hurt
The fuel of pain is no longer there

I look for words I used to relate w/
BUT all I have now

Is this ODD NEW PLACE
This place of very little anger, rage, or hatred.

I am challenged to create in non-hurt ways
Ways that I’m excitedly unfamiliar w/

Creativity birthed from healing

Positive creativity- I can’t wait, Lord Jesus.

I guess you had to be a fan of Pantera to follow these comments....

georgiame- the pantera part is about my "angry" lyrics & (face, psyche, & hand-heel farting move, are things we did when we were younger to shut somebody up. this probably isn't making any sense. this coming sun., i'll have david & diga give ya an example.

I look forward to it.....I think.

great stuff J...i personally think its OK to use the fuel every now and then (think moneychangers)...just be careful not to spill any on your pants...

excellent point, den. righteous anger. takes some real wisdom to know when to turn it on & off.

Yeah, like when someone looks at you wrong. PSYCHE!! I just try to stay away from anger and just push it all deep down inside of me until it forms a tiny black ball of hate. That's healthy, right?

david- here's some reference music for ya: Chevelle ( songs: red & suffocating). now if that was purely sarcasm in your comment, take this: hand & chin thingy. it's like italian or something.

David said...

It was sarcasm, and I bite my thumb at you (that's right, I'm going "Romeo & Juliet" on you).

As far as Chevelle is concerned they're just Deftones Jr. It's not so much that I dislike them, but the sum of the styles that they're biting don't add up and I'd just rather listen to the originators.

i totally agree. i even heard some tool in some of their stuff. one good thing that they have going for them is that their band has some Christ-followers in it. therefore, if a youngster would like to try an alternative to the mature lyrics of tool & deftones, they can pop in some chevelle.

When Chevelle started, they were Catholic, which was originally the reason that I didn't want to listen to them.

don't count out the spirit-filled catholics.
