Bright Sunshiny Day

On my customary run at lunch, today, I really slowed down and soaked in the sun and the views. Running up Prater, then through the neighborhoods, then up Los Altos, is hard at first, then totally worth it as I get to look out over Sparks and Reno on my way back. When I run down Los Altos, I love the views of the snow-capped mountains (Spanish word nevada, which is the feminine form of "covered in snow"). I love the rush I get when I see the mountains, feel 60 degree weather, bask in sunshine, run fast, and have a cool breeze cooling me off. Doesn't get much better than that (in running terms-- that is). To think that I used to ignore, downplay, and neglect nature/scenery. It's very interesting how a few years of working through things can open up one's world to the beauty all around. I'm looking forward to spring although I usually get bombarded with allergies. I'm looking forward to flowers, green stuff, and the sound of birds chirping. This post may have a shot at being a Mentos commercial, and that's a good thing. Passed up 2 ladies walking at separate segments of my run-- 1st one walks faster and yells, "I'm only walking, because I had knee replacement surgery (arthritis). I have run 2 marathons before." The 2nd lady said, "You're quicker than me." Kind of funny how running evokes insecurities in others. Hmmmmm......

You mean you haven't been bombarded by allergies yet? You're lucky...
