....for me, was best fueled by self-pity, rage, jealousy, voids, hatred, disobedience to God-- and the less of those present = less philosophizing. There's much creativity to be had in peace and joy. Now, just to tap into that fountain.

this reminds me a bit of a conversation that my friend dan and i had years ago, probably high school time. we hypothesized that the reason christian music tended to be so bad and the music we really liked tended to be negative in terms of message or at least in feelings being expressed is that most people only find creativity in negative emotions.
Well said. Drugs too, I doubt there are very many christian musicians smoking hash or doped up on X to get their creative juices flowing.
