imagine if you will-
an unnamed family needing to assemble a bunk bed. the room consists of 3 girls, 2 adults (yeah, right), a Pug, & a white cat.
the night before the male adult, during the dinner meal, says to his family that we're going to have a "bunk bed party". he said it would be a real blast. something to celebrate. what a dork.
the bunk bed assembly goes pretty darn good- for most of the time. as they approach the finishing line- the last few screws aren't fitting so well. tempers start to rise & the audience is looking at the adults w/ pity. why are there so many screw holes that don't properly house the provided screw?
the bunk bed has been assembled & the girls are mucho happy. the older daughter was incredibly disappointed in comparing how the "bunk bed party" played out & what was pitched the night before. :-(
here's what i hope is a helpful hint to assembly embarkers: don't tell your family that you're going to do it. don't tell them when you're going to do it. don't tell them that it'll be a party w/ lots of quality family time. lock all access doors to the area of assembly. consider the cost of inviting your spouse.
have i ever mentioned how much "assembly required" sucks?

you have reached a point of great enlightenment. i have discovered that the less people around when i am building stuff, the better. not only would i not invite the family, i would encourage them all to leave. i might want my wife to stick around just so i have someone to argue with/blame everything on. nah, that's why they invented cell phones
I was thinking having the wife, or roommate in my case, around would be a good idea so she/he could take you to the hospital.
Think about "no assembly required" or "in-house installation" next time Tim Allen!
Jay, what happened to the John Thomas post?
i felt it had served its immediate purpose. it was very personal & i shared it w/ friends. as this blog is public to the "world", i didn't want to run into future problems. does that make sense?
